Depression in America has long been a problem. Estimates about 10-20% lifetime prevalence. That means one out of every 10 to one out of every five, people will have a depressive episode at some point in their life. And we know with COVID, those numbers are rising. In this episode, Dr. Graham Taylor is joined by Dr. Ravi Shah. Ravi is a chief innovation officer and an assistant professor at Columbia university's department of psychiatry. We discuss digital mental health and managing psycho-pharmaceutical care for the treatment of depression. Columbia Psychiatry has developed an app called Pathways with an algorithm for treating depression. Together Graham and Ravi discuss the impact of depression, its causes, the new Pathways App, and the app’s uses to empower practitioners and patients to better address their anti-depressant medication. With this Pathways App, we believe the vast majority of people with depression can get much better than they’re already doing.
